Australia’s Shrinking Construction Industry

Concrete

Slowly but surely, the construction industry is shrinking.

There are less cranes in the skyline and less development applications being submitted.

Whilst government fast tracks the approval of large-scale projects, which should never take as long as they do to be assessed anyway, they forget that these big projects take years before they result in construction jobs.

In the meantime, what happens? The construction sector relies heavily on the smaller scale building works that government hasn’t stimulated. It’s a shame they’re not being supported because plenty of builders and tradies will be suffering very soon, and not just from lack of cashflow, try mental health too.
